robin · 1207 days ago Again, thank you. This picture brings back vivid memories for me. Just after I took this picture the zebra foal managed to make it to the banks of the river. The problem was that the rapids had brought him back to the very point where he had started and his mother was now on the opposite bank. We watched for about two hours as she frantically ran backwards and forwards calling to her foal and listened to their plaintiff wails to each other. It was heart rendering and many of us were in tears as the foal was tiny! The good news is that the foal eventually crossed with another group of wildebeest and zebra and was re-united with it's mother. Very emotional!
